Updated Experience...
So if you have been paying attention to the blog at all, it has been two weeks since I posted about my experience about the last #IntentionalStep entitled, "Thankful." And unfortunately that is because it took me two weeks to accomplish this task. It was amazing to me how quickly, when my schedule got busy that I reverted back to living accidentally. I immediately fell back to living in a rut. My default mode kicked in and I let life consume me. Interestingly enough, it occurred during the week I was challenged to think outside of myself and focus on those around me. It's so easy to think the world revolves around our busy lives, isn't it? As deadlines, and meetings, and tasks begin to pile up, we become slaves to the urgent. And when we live under the tyranny of the urgent we actually begin to believe that life does revolve around our needs.
When I finally got around to writing my "thank you" notes, it was striking how difficult it was for me to focus on others. Then God began to flood my mind with names of people who are in my life and have influence into who I am. It made me wonder how many people in my life go unnoticed and how frequently I focus solely on my needs and never stop to appreciate those around me. As simple as this #IntentionalStep was, it proved to be the most difficult for me personally, which was quite convicting.
What is your experience? How do you intentionally try to express your thankfulness for others around you? Let me know in the comments below.
This past week has been incredibly busy because of Winter Camp this past weekend. Because of all the craziness I am a day late in posting this week’s #IntentionalStep challenge, but hey, better late than never right?
One of the things I am reminded of during camp weeks is how many people I am grateful for. Camp takes a lot of people who give up their personal time to make it happen. It really got me thinking about how I never really take the time to appreciate others as much as I should. So with that in mind, this week’s #IntentionalStep is to write a thank you note to someone different every day, simply expressing my gratitude toward them for whatever reason and then drop it in the mail.
I would love for you to join me, this is an easy one to tackle with me. Let me know your thoughts and experience in the comments below.
I’ll be back at the end of the week to share the experience.
